The giant Austalian gum tree which use to be on our back field has been damaged in some of the recent storms we've had this winter in Auckland. Strong winds finally cracked the tree in half. The tree hadn't been stable for some time and there were thick, rubber cords helping to keep it up right. The tree had also been infested with the Gum leaf skeletoniser caterpillar also know by its scientific name Uraba lugens.
That tree was really big and strong it was a nice tree
ReplyDeleteThe tree was really strong but once it fell down it wasn't really strong. How long did the tree last for?

ReplyDeleteThat's sad. I really liked that tree. I remember climbing on it. It won't be the same without it. But at least there won't be any more Uraba Luegans. Ahhh... Funny Name.
ReplyDeleteThe tree was so big and it has hold on for a long time, I wanted to climb that tree but now I can't climb it now
ReplyDeleteThe tree was huge! I loved playing on it when I was at New Windsor, I was devastated when I saw it had fallen over! I loved climbing on it too, it was my favorite to climb.
