The giant Austalian gum tree which use to be on our back field has been damaged in some of the recent storms we've had this winter in Auckland. Strong winds finally cracked the tree in half. The tree hadn't been stable for some time and there were thick, rubber cords helping to keep it up right. The tree had also been infested with the Gum leaf skeletoniser caterpillar also know by its scientific name Uraba lugens.
