Potential vs Kinetic Energy

Designing a paper plane is a tricky process if you wish to beat your classmates in a paper plane flying contest. There are many designs to consider and throwing techniques.  What has worked best for you?

What is potential energy?  What stage of paper plane making demonstrates potential energy? When does potential energy change into kinetic energy?

What kind of energy do you use to make the plane fly??

Carnivalito and Kahoot with our buddies in Room 14

Every week Rooms 14 and 15 get together to share some time with one another.  Room 14 has students who are year 1 or 2.  They are lucky enough to have the wonderful Mrs Chester for their teacher.

Sometimes we sing songs or read or engage in an activity.  Once we even went to see a play called Dexter's Deep Sea Discovery at Tapac.  This week Room 14 taught us a dance called Carnivalito.  We are going to perform it for our assembly next Friday.

After our assembly and dance practice, Room 15 helped Room 14 do their first ever Kahoot quiz.   The quiz was all about the Farming unit we've all been studying.  It was so much fun, we hope to do it again really soon.

Dexter's Deep Sea Discovery

WOW! The last day of term and we all went to tAPAC.  We were all lucky enough to receive free tickets to enjoy Dexter's Deep Sea Discovery. We had the theater to ourselves, we got up close and personal with the actors and we shared it all with our buddies in rooms 14 and 18.

Assembly Time

Assemblies are always more fun when you do it with your buddies !

Shared Lunch

April 1st, rooms 14, 15 and 18 celebrated our cultures with a shared lunch. We have eighteen different cultures in our classrooms, NZ Maori, NZ European, Chinese, American, Cook Island Maori, Fijian, Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Niuean, Pakistani, Samoan, Sri Lankan, South African and Tongan. We shared an amazing assortment of delicious dishes!

Art Installation

During EOTC week the classes all participated in a wide array of activities. Bush walks, trips to the beach, learning about nature, arts and crafts. Mrs Dower took a group of Year 2s and created fabric dye works. We went to check them out with our buddies. They were up outside the pool. Did you have a chance to see them?
