Room 15's Georgia O'Keefe Art Gallery
The pieces of work were ready to go. Everyone had carefully studied the steps and processes used by Georgia O'Keeffe and then you applied what you'd observed to the creation of your own pieces. You studied the minute details, you transformed that small keyhole observation to a canvas, to a print and to a stiff board. You used pencils, pastels, paints, tissue and glue. You observed, contemplated, discussed, made, revised, and executed. Last night, Caleb, Sara, Dorian R and Dorian P, Tania, Ishita and Wynstan stepped up and into the role of host. They greeted people and then walked them through our gallery explaining the steps and processes. They shared some information about the artist, Georgia O'Keeffe and told tales about our creations. They represented you all very well and received many compliments for the fine job they each did. Well done to you all!

Have you ever touched a piece of space?
Room 15 had a very special guest when gemologist, Mr Mohammed Ali came to visit us with his red metal box filled with precious gems. Inside this box were sapphires of every colour, emeralds, rubies, opals, amethyst and diamonds. We touched everything! Including a 10 carat black diamond. New research suggests that black diamonds may come from diamond encrusted asteroid impact sites in the Central African Repulic and Brasil, so have you ever touched a piece of space? We have.

Georgia O' Keeffe
Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) was an American artist known as the mother of American moderism. She is best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers. We are finding inspiration in the art work of Georgia O'Keefe and reinterpreting it for ourselves.
Here Room 15 is examining our flowers and enlarging them and using tissue paper combined with glue to represent our ideas.
